Jeff is the name behind JxJ — but also more than a name. He’s the hands in the workshop, the quiet presence in the sawdust, the patience behind every curve. JxJ (Jeff by Jeff) isn’t just about one maker, it’s about the idea of design itself: organic forms shaped with care, precision, and a touch of mystery.

Where are your products made?

Every JxJ piece is handmade in Toronto, Ontario, from lumber we personally source from Canadian mills. Staying local means we know the story of our wood — its origin, its character, and its quality. It also means supporting our community while keeping a close eye on every detail, from log to finished shelf.

What makes JxJ shelves unique?

Nature doesn’t deal in sharp corners, and neither do we. Our shelves are shaped by the soft, flowing lines you’d find outdoors — curves that feel alive, surfaces that invite touch. They’re more than storage; they’re quiet sculptures, balancing strength and elegance. Whether they’re holding your favourite plant or nothing at all, they change the feel of a room simply by existing.

Do you offer custom sizes or shapes?

This is one of our most common questions — and the answer is no. Each collection (Kinoko, Aurora, Vesta, and those yet to come) has been designed, refined, and tested to achieve its perfect balance of form, function, and effortless installation. Think of them like a chef’s signature dish: already perfected, served as intended.

What finishes do you offer?

We keep things simple and intentional. Most shelves are sealed with a clear protective coat that highlights the natural grain and texture of the wood. For black ash, we add a black-tinted topcoat — a subtle, modern finish that deepens the character while still letting the organic patterns breathe through.

How do I care for my shelf?

Your shelf is low-maintenance by design. A soft dusting cloth is all it needs to stay fresh. Skip harsh chemicals and abrasives. Over the years, the wood will deepen in colour and gain a natural patina — like a leather jacket that only gets better with age.

Can I return or exchange my order?

We don’t accept returns or exchanges. Every shelf is unique, with its own grain and natural variations — a quality that makes each one singular. By purchasing, you acknowledge and embrace this natural difference.

How much weight can it hold?

Each JxJ shelf is built to hold up to 20 lbs when installed correctly. That’s more than enough for books, plants, records, and everyday essentials — sturdy, reliable, and still floating effortlessly on your wall.
